The Arts and Crafts of the Other: Intercultural Dialogues 2008

Themed conferences on artistic and cultural diversity in the context of the European Year for Intercultural Dialogue.

12 March – The Chinese and Us – Luís Filipe Barreto
9 April – The Berbers and Us – José Alberto Alegria – With an exhibition of Berber rugs.
20 May – The Arabs and Us – Cláudio Torres – With a tasting of Portuguese-Arabic flavours.
24 September – The Makonde of Mozambique and Us – Rui Pereira
15 October – The Jews and Us – Maria José Ferro Tavares
12 November – The Japanese and Us – Eduardo Kol de Carvalho

These conferences are always held at 6pm and are based around art works.

This cycle of conferences is organised in the context of the European Year for Intercultural Dialogue, together with Associação MultiCulti – Culturas do Mediterrâneo and with the support of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures.

Decorative Arts in the late afternoon

Collaboration with ESAD

Once a month (at 6pm), a teacher from the School of Decorative Arts will present a ‘class’ at the Museum.

Collaboration with the WORKSHOPS
Once a month on Wednesdays (6:30pm) a Master from the workshops will give advice and guidance on conservation of furniture, metalwork (silver, bronze, brass), ceramics (porcelain and faïence), paintings and leather.
